The current Opel logo lies in the the origin of the lightning, truck Opel Blitz since 1866, in the form of a horizontally stretched letter “Z”.

Founded by Adam Opel in 1862 as a sewing machine manufacturer, Opel is a German automobile manufacturer, is now a subsidiary of the General Motors.
