MGM’s legendary roaring lion logo was formed in 1924, by theater magnate Marcus Loew. The Leo the Lion was created by the Paramount Studios art director Lionel S. Reiss.
Founded in 1924, MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) was once the largest and most glamorous of film studios, is also one of the oldest mini-major film studios and a former major film studio.
Since 1971, MGM was acquired and sold several times until it emerged from bankruptcy in 2010. MGM is now a separate holding company, an entertainment company focused on the production and distribution of film and television content globally.
